A method was described to the convert the equations valid for luxons (particles traveling with the speed of light) to be applicable for bradyons (particles traveling with speed less than the speed of light). Problems related to motion of particles could be solved, easily, by this method.

Reciprocal lattice is, widely, used in the theory of solids. Te reciprocal lattice vectors have dimensions of
inverse of length. These vectors are, therefore, different in different systems of units. Cross lattice was defined in such a way that the cross-lattice vectors were independent of the coördinate system chosen. The eigenfunctions for cross-lattice vectors were obtained similar to the momentum eigenfunctions used in solid-state theory.

Burman’s generalized Ohm’s law for relativistically-streaming plasmas was obtained for particles endowed with both electric and magnetic charge. Binary plasmas were, also, treated and the results were compared with Burman’s results.

The law of radioactive decay was given in terms of the initial and final masses of the radioactive material. The decay law was, also, generalized for mixtures.

Dr. Syed Arif Kamal has been directing the research program of Biomechanics Laboratory since its inception in 1993. He has corresponded with leading experts in the fielding and outside the country. I am happy to report that there is an ongoing active research program, which involves experimentation, modeling and software development to study the biomechanics of the human spinal column using 3-D optical techniques, moiré fringe topography and rasterstereography. One paper has already been submitted for presentation in an International conference. Another paper is going to be submitted in near future.

I congratulate Dr. Kamal and his colleagues Dr. Junaid Ahmed Zubairi and Prof. Ayub Yousufzai for producing quality research in our limited resources. He has shown dedication, perseverance, devotion and mastery over the material during his association with Sir Syed University. I wish him success in life.
